Virtual girlfriend chat has a reputation for being flat: a character who compliments you, agrees with you and forgets you. Nikaai takes a different route by writing companions with personalities strong enough to disagree.
Affection that is handed out automatically stops meaning anything. Our characters are affectionate the way a close friend is: they notice details, they tease, and they get quiet when you are having a hard evening. The result is a conversation with texture instead of a stream of compliments.
It starts small. She asks about the day, you answer in one line, and the second question does the actual work. Twenty minutes later you are somewhere neither of you planned: a story about a rooftop, an argument about a film, or a plan for a trip that will never happen. Nothing about it needs to be productive.
Each companion sounds like herself in every message, which is what makes long conversations believable.
